In the framework of the “Excellency Initiative – Inclusive Municipality”, GIZ CDBE has organized training in Budapest, Hungary, from 13th – 17th of November, 2018 on the topic “Inclusive Education: Fighting segregation and discrimination in the school level”
Participants of this training were mainly municipal officials from the municipalities of the Excellence Initiative, namely from the municipalities of Gjakova, Obiliq, Shtime, and Podujeva. Part of the training were also central level officials from Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and from Ministry of Internal Affairs who are responsible for re-integration of children in education, namely Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian children and children returning from migration. The group was facilitated by our GIZ staff, Ms. Zana Dobruna and Mr. Tefik Agushi.
Training objectives were the following:
- Raising awareness on Inclusive Education through the approach centered in human rights
- Acquiring knowledge on the inclusive education legislation with special focus on children returning from migration and vulnerable communities;
- Capacity Development on closing the gap between schools and communities – Promoting family, student, teacher, and community participation in the education system;
- Capacity Development on Classroom De-segregated strategies and strategic management skills;
Training content was a balance of theoretical concepts and practical work which provoked thought and discussion and inspired new thinking on inclusive education
